Yvonne Adhiambo Owour, Words for Worlds
Meditation
The sea is the map. The lines between land, sea, and sky are a matter of perspective. Owuor goes to Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean to hear these ideas from a man who has lived his long life at a crossroads of cultures, trade, identity, and art. There is a freedom is those lines. It is appealing to imagine the maps created by the natural world without the artificial constraints we place upon our movements and our identities.
Where are the peripheries in your world? What happens if you explore the crossroads and the edges? What new maps would you find? What perspective might you gain?
